12 weeks old. Where does the time go?

Hello, it’s been a while since I last updated my blog so I thought it was about time I did.

Being a dad is fantastic. Watching the little man grow up never seems to get boring. Every morning I wake up and pop in to Lucas’ room to say good morning before I go for my shower and every morning I get the biggest gummy smile you could imagine. We moved him into his own room on the 1st August. Partly because we felt if we didn’t do then it would just get harder and harder to do it and partly because, even though he was only 10 weeks old he was fast outgrowing his moses basket. Since the move we have never looked back and I think Lucas likes it too. He certainly has more room to spread out and boy does he spread out.

So, just over the 12 week mark now, not that you’d believe that to look at him. He may be 12 weeks old but he is starting to grow out of his 3-6 months clothes already. Kristin got him weighed last Friday. 16lb 10oz! The midwife marked his weight in his book. For those of you who don’t have kids, the health visitor gives you a book so your baby’s weight, height, head circumference etc can be recorded. On each of the charts is a set of lines that represent somewhere between 0 and 100. The reason for this is because when they mark the weight, height, head circumference etc it indicates where your baby would be if lined up amoungst 99 other babies their age. So, where does Lucas rank on weight? Just short of 98th. This means he has 2 to 3 babies out of 100 heavier than him.

He is always hungry and can quite easily polish off 9oz of milk so we decided to top him up with a bit of food. At the moment it seems to satisfy him but I know it won’t be long before he wants more. I can already feel his stare burning a hole in me while I eat my dinner.

As well as eating us out of house and home he has also become a lot more stable too. He holds his head up all by himself now so we thought we’d try him in his walker. Now, he’s feet only just touch the floor so he isn’t ready to start moving about but he does love to bang the buttons and pull the levers to make all the sounds.

Anyway, that’s all for now. I’ll try and give you more updates but if not I’ll be certain to do one at 6 months.
